North of the Leekstermeer, the Groninger Landschap owns the Oeverlanden and the Lettelberterpetten. The remaining areas in De Onlanden are managed by Staatsbosbeheer and Natuurmonumenten.

North of the Leekstermeer, the Groninger Landschap owns the Oeverlanden and the Lettelberterpetten. The remaining areas in De Onlanden are managed by Staatsbosbeheer and Natuurmonumenten.
You can view the whole area from the watchtower ‘Het Beeld’ in the Onlanden. You can reach this watchtower via a winding path from the Noorddijk. The tower has 127 steps and is 26 metres high. Bring your binoculars and enjoy the magnificent view!
The name Lettelberterpetten refers to the so-called capholes. At the beginning of the 20th century, a lot of peat was extracted near Lettelbert. Digging out the peat created holes that filled with water, the petholes.
The typically Drenthe village of Roden has a cosy and extensive centre. There are many restaurants and shops, and activities are organised regularly. One of the oldest buildings on the Brink houses a small-scale cinema.
The cosy village seemed to have a wide range of shops and is best known for its Nienoord estate.
Did you know that the Wadden Islands can be easily reached from Cnossen Leekstermeer? Ideal for a day trip. You can get on the boat at several places.
On the other hand, our beautiful surroundings offer lots of opportunities to be active and adventurous.
A day of shopping, strolling through picturesque streets or soaking up culture? The city of Groningen is nearby. So close, in fact, that you can see the skyline across the Leekstermeer.
